Effortlessly Chic Items To Add To Your Work Wardrobe

Looking to revamp your work wardrobe? We get you.

Don’t you just envy the Parisienne ladies who can leave the house in 30 minutes looking fabulous with a pinch of je ne sais quoi?

When looking effortlessly chic can be all but effortless, we are bringing you the basic go-to items to transform your work wardrobe. (And chances are you’ll already have a few of these already…)

A JUNK HOLDER

A must-have all year around. Chances are you will have your life in your bag whilst working, especially if you commute or bring packed lunch. I suggest investing in a good quality statement bag in a colour that goes with your wardrobes colour theme, so you don’t even have to think about whether it goes with your outfit.

LEATHER TROUSERS

A fail-proof way to make any outfit more formal. Want to wear a slouchy knit for work but not sure if it’s too casual? Chuck on a pair of leather trousers. Don’t get these mixed with PVC leggings which are definitely not SFW.

BLAZER

Adding a blazer is the easiest way to take any outfit from drab to fab. Try adding it over a simple top and trousers to make an outfit look more put-together or make a statement in a two-piece suit; We love this blue two-piece by Misguided.  Either way, you’ll look oh so Coco Channel Olivia Palermo.

BLACK PUMPS

A go-to shoe for every outfit. The classic black pump is a shortcut to chic, instantly elongating your legs and making any outfit look instantly more put together. Not feeling heels? Its flat sister is equally as flattering when pointy. We love a pair of Valentino Rockstuds but our bank accounts don’t so check out this stunning dupe by Dune at a fraction of the price. We won’t tell…

SILK CAMI

A go-to on date night because it’s so versatile – read how we wear silk cami’s 5 different ways – but more importantly can go from being SFW to DTF in minutes. The silk texture of the fabric is so elegant that it’s perfectly paired with less smart options such as black jeans and espadrilles, without looking casual. Add a blazer and you’re good to go.

WHITE SHIRT

Via Pinterest

A white shirt is a must have in every working women’s wardrobe! The basic clothing item is fail-proof all year-round and can be teamed with anything from trousers to a skirt. Go with a classic fitted white shirt or play with what’s on trend from slits to longer lengths, the possibilities are endless…

MIDI SKIRT

Via Pinterest

Hate your thighs but it’s too hot for trousers? I feel you… Alternatively, you may just want to add feminine flair to your outfit. In which case, the midi skirt is perfect for you. It’s long enough to avoid risking looking a little too risqué for the office and also hide any lumps and bumps you don’t want on show (which still hasn’t shifted from Christmas). Double yay! What’s great about a longer length skirt, is that as it can be quite formal – especially if it’s flowy or pleated- you can get away with wearing a casual top or jumper tucked in.

  1. This is great, I’m always trying to look like I “tried” when I don’t wanna actually put too much effort into my look. I really wanna try leather trousers, I may not be able to pull them off but they look so glam & chic! I love it. Also love the look of blazers, and silk shirts!

  2. I absolutely love blazers and I am on the hunt for one. This was such a good post! x
